Gallon Man
A long time ago in the Land of Gallon, there were 4 Queens(4 Quarts = 1 Gallon) and each Queen had a prince and princess(2 pints). Each Prince and Princess had 2 children (1 pint = 2 cups) and each child had a dog named 8 ounces (1 cup = 8 ounces).
Alyssa M. taught us this great story as a way to remember the conversion among capacity units. Mrs. Hufford and Mrs. Altenburg were pretty impressed as we had not heard this before. To go along with this story we decided to make Gallon Man. Students brought in Gallon jugs and 4 containers to represent quarts. We recycled milk and juice cartons and Mrs. Altenburg purchased the Dixie Cups for this project. Hope you enjoy the results of Gallon Man. It took us all Friday afternoon. We really felt the kids enjoyed this activity and will be able to remember what was taught.

Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!!
We have had so much snow over Christmas break. For some people this caused them to change their Christmas plans. For others, it meant they were snowed in for a few days. Did the snowstorm of 2009 cause you any hardships? Do you have any funny stories to tell? What would you say was the best thing about it? The worse thing about it was what? It can't wait to read what you have to say!
